the restorative health club
-
Movement is our entry point.
From strength training to mat-based classes and community runs, we create consistent opportunities for people to show up, move, and build confidence in their bodies at their own pace.
Every session is designed for every body.
-
We move with the community. Not around it.
Our work expands based on immediate needs, amplifying our presence through resource distribution, community closets, and direct outreach when it matters most.
We prioritize prevention—and respond to emerging community needs.
-
Knowledge is part of the work.
We integrate nutrition, habit-building, and preventative health into our programming, giving people tools they can apply beyond the class.
Because movement is just the beginning.
Detroiters face some of the nation’s most preventable health disparities.Over 35% of Detroiters report no regular physical activity.
1 in 3 adults battles obesity, hypertension, or diabetes.
70% of chronic conditions can be prevented through consistent movement, nutrition, and community support.
This is how we shift outcomes—by making movement accessible, habitual, and human.
step up with us, move the city
City Sweat Club is redefining how health and wellness show up in the community through consistent movement, education, and service that reaches people where they are. We partner with organizations and individuals to expand access, support programming, and create lasting impact across the city.
This work doesn’t run on intention—it runs on support. Become a program partner, and help us keep every mat filled, every class accessible, and every person moving.

Our program delivers fitness and wellness experiences designed to create real, visible impact across the city:
Community Runs, Classes & Events: from weekly movement to large-scale activations that bring people together
Wellness Education: nutrition, habit-building, and prevention-focused sessions
Community Closet: resource collection and distribution for individuals and families
Neighbors-in-Service: we don’t just host—we show up, serve, and stay connected
This is consistent presence designed to expand access, strengthen our community, and change outcomes over time.
-
Access isn’t a concept. It’s how we operate.
Our programming is built to remove barriers and meet people where they are:
Open to all: no limitations or restrictions
Inclusive by design: all experience levels are welcomed
Youth Access: youth participants are welcome with a parent/guardian, or through approved program partnerships within Durfee Innovation Society
Registration + Walk-In Model:
Registration secures your spot
Walk-ins are welcomed when space allows
Flexible participation: we do our best to accommodate every individual who can benefit from the program
Movement should be available—not exclusive.
-
This work is built to be shared.
City Sweat Club operates as a platform for aligned partners to plug into real, active programming—not one-off ideas:
Program Partnerships: co-create and integrate into existing runs, classes, education, and service initiatives
Funding in Action: direct support into programming that is already moving, reaching, and serving the community
Space + Experience Integration: activate within our environments or bring City Sweat Club programming into yours
Youth + Workforce Development: support pathways that connect wellness, leadership, and real-world experience
Community Reach: engage directly with the people we serve through consistent, trusted touchpoints
This is shared opportunity, where alignment turns into action, and action turns into impact.
RUN. SWEAT. SERVE.
As a collective of neighbors-in-service, City Sweat Club advances health equity through fitness, wellness education, and servant leadership, delivering resources that strengthen community health.
Since June 26, 2024, this community has created:
200+ wellness experiences
3,500+ people moved and 1,300+ families supported
500+ hours of community service
What makes this impact distinct is how it was built—intentional, grassroots, people-first work. Over two-thirds of this work was delivered in year one, without a permanent home.
We showed up wherever we could. City parks, sidewalks, borrowed rooms, and pop-up spaces—proving that access isn’t defined by walls, but by consistency and presence. That approach allowed us to build trust, expand our reach, and deliver meaningful impact, meeting people where they are and growing alongside the community.
Today, that same work has a place to call home—creating space to deepen programming, strengthen partnerships, and expand what’s possible for the people we serve. From the streets to a storefront. Same mission, greater impact.
